If you were to describe your ideal lifestyle, might it sound something like this? Imagine being free to go as you like without any money worries. You could spend an endless amount of time doing whatever you like, with whomever you like and wherever you like, all on your terms. And here’s the beauty of the beast, you’d be doing things that would primarily feed your soul. That sounds like a great life!
But, the reality is that you might be saddled with debt, are working demanding jobs that you might not even like and that keep you away from your family, and can’t travel because you feel that you’re barely making enough to pay the bills. You’re probably living the lifestyle that will keep you working until you’re 65. We got three words to describe it: average, stressful and boring.
What if we told you that there’s more to life than working a 9-5. That reaching financial independence (FI), so that you can live life on your own terms, is within your reach. Isn’t that more… exciting?
We hope that once you see what we have in store, you’ll feel motivated to do whatever it takes to buy your freedom from a job. Simply because there’s no better thing in life than owning your time.

Part of our money philosophy is based on a few core beliefs…
- We believe that no matter what financial background you come from, you can become wealthy and enjoy life’s greatest treasures if you’re up for the challenge. We are determined to take you from rags to riches, so that you can find your true happiness. It doesn’t matter the color of your skin or what accent you might have.
- We believe that in order to succeed you have to think differently, divert your path from the masses and evolve as a human being. We’ll show how to set yourself apart from the average.
- We believe that financial independence is key to unlocking the door to happiness, but true happiness doesn’t come from material possessions. It’s the simple moments and pleasant memories with your loved ones that really count. We’ll highlight how important it is to be in the moment and how we place value on relationships.
- We believe that you have way more control of your life than you think, and can start to turn it around the minute that you take action to control your financial destiny. It’s all up to you. 🙂
- We believe that random misfortunes that come into your life are not because you deserve them as punishment. Instead of accepting defeat, you must get up and keep trying. We didn’t become a financial success without having failures along the way. We’ll point our failures, so that you can learn from them.
You’ve got what it takes to be in control of your money and become wealthy. We’re here to provide you with a solid foundation, so that you can grow your stash and change your relationship with money. You got this!
Now let’s introduce ourselves.
I’m Mrs. Enchumbao
I’m a salsa-dancing, globe-trotting, people-watching ball of energy. I challenge things as they are and empower others to do the same. I’m a cultural mutt: having been born in Belarus, grown up in Lithuania, studied abroad in Spain and living in the U.S., I currently refer to myself as a Russian Latina. 🙂 I’ve lived in PA ever since coming here.
What brings Mrs. Enchumbao here.
Ever since I was little, I was different. I didn’t care what people did or thought and marched to the beat of my drum. Unafraid to challenge authority, I would stand up for someone or something, if it felt right and just. I have a very strong sense of who I am and what makes me happy. My goal is to share this internal strength and drive with you.
I have been an unofficial life coach to many friends and family members, and I share my realizations with you, with the hope that it helps you get to know yourself better, love yourself and live for yourself. That, my friend, is the ultimate happiness.
My road to true happiness and financial independence wasn’t easy. I immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 13 from Lithuania with my mom and sister, and we were poor there and poor here to start. I had to work several part-time jobs to help my mom pay the bills. However, I was able to finish college and get a great job, which provided me with a solid income. Once I learned about the concept of FI, I combined my earning power with my humble roots, and was able to save so much more than I ever thought possible. If someone told my 13-year-old self that I’d be financially independent by the age of 31, I’d have assumed I either won the lottery or married rich.
And I’m Mr. Enchumbao
I’m a lifelong learner. What has made the difference in my success is that I always kept getting up after every fall. I’m a Dominican immigrant and came here at the age of 12 with my family. I’ve called RI, NY and PA my home states.
What brings Mr. Enchumbao here.
Writing doesn’t always come easy to me, but I always found an inclination to express myself through writing ever since my work started getting published in my Rhode Island College newspaper. I’ve been involved in publishing on and off since then.
What brings me here is the desire to help people save for their future. The average U.S. personal savings rate is very discouraging and I believe that we can do a lot better.
I’ve also found myself getting sucked into the trap of the so-called “American Dream”, until I woke up and realized that I had to change my relationship with money. I want to help others do the same. I’m now living the happiest years of my life, according to my own beliefs and not the bullshit that society dictates.
How did Enchumbao come to life?
Back in 2015, we felt the need to write about our financial independence journey or “FIRE” (Financial Independence/Retire Early), as it’s called in the personal finance community. We both work for an investment management company and learned a thing or two about investing. The goal was to have a library of articles on how we reached financial independence and to inspire family and friends in case they wanted to pursue FI. It’s a lot easier to send a link to an article on how to accomplish something than having to explain it over and over. That’s how Enchumbao was born.
We haven’t done much to promote Enchumbao outside of social networks in our effort to stay anonymous until we finish our working careers, but our articles have been featured in RockStar Finance and Physician on Fire.
We also had the pleasure of making new friends through meet-ups and have met other personal finance bloggers such as Two Cup House, Go Curry Cracker, Root of Good and Mad Money Monster. These are awesome people and you should follow their journeys.
What does Enchumbao mean?
Enchumbao is an expression of our journey. The word derives from “enchumbado” in Spanish. It means “drenched”. Why not choose to pursue a lifestyle drenched in true happiness? That’s how our lives feel and we thought the name reflected that. The process of building wealth is simpler than pronouncing enchumbao, even for Latinos. 😉
But, let’s not a challenge stop us. Now, repeat after me: [an-choom-bau].
