As we go about our daily lives we encounter places, products and services that are outstanding, bring value and enhance our experiences. These have become our favorites and we want to share them with you. Rest assured that we’re not posting any products unless we feel they can benefit you. Part of our spending philosophy is that what we buy, needs to bring value to our quality of life and that we don’t go spending the money we don’t have.
The Olive Room
During our latest visit to Baltimore in August 2014, we stumbled upon this gem just by walking past their board sign on the side walk. It’s at the top level of an inn, so we didn’t know what to expect until we rode the elevator up to the rooftop deck level. We came at an off time – right as they opened at 5 P.M., which was too late for lunch and kind of early for a Sat night dinner, but that made it even better for us. We sat inside at the bar, since it was a bit too hot for the outdoors then, but if you come around 7 P.M. or later, you can fully take advantage of outdoor dining. We had the place to ourselves for at least an hour and Javier, the host / bartender /server, took care of us like family. We felt like we were on the Mediterranean somewhere at a local family-owner restaurant. It’s not often we feel so comfortable in a brand new place, but he made it so! He made a few drinks for us, and we had a great tipsy afternoon. We tried a few of their small plates: the octopus was great, the potatoes delicious, and I think the fries had cocaine in them because they melted in my mouth and I wanted more and more. The best part was the desert surprise. The baklava ice cream is out of this world! Normally, baklava is too sweet for me, but in this ice cream, it was perfect. My taste buds were in heaven! Bottom line – don’t miss out on this experience! Cheers! – Mrs. Enchumbao
